Labor Group Urges Probe of China Work Conditions
The AFL-CIO has urged the Bush administration to launch an investigation into work conditions in China. They have accused the Chinese government of multiple workers' rights violations including denying collective bargaining rights and not enforcing laws pertaining to health, safety and overtime. If the evidence shows that China is guilty of labor violations, the AFL-CIO is asking Bush to impose new duties on Chinese goods.
