Labor lawyer: Union legislation not complete solution
As part of Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations' Union Days, attorney and labor activist Tom Geoghegan spoke about the Employee Free Choice Act yesterday. The event also included a social justice fair, photo exhibit titled "Unseen America", and a debate between two labor attorneys ? each taking a different stance on the Employee Free Choice Act. Geoghegan spoke about his experiences campaigning for congress in Chicago, noting "how much people need a labor movement". He supports the Employee Free Choice Act, though he is skeptical it will be sufficient to bring the labor movement back. Meanwhile, Tompkins County has passed a resolution in favor of the legislation.
