Labor Leader Says Labor Movement in Crisis
Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), is leading the way in a drive to restructure the labor movement. Although the SEIU officially supports John Kerry for president, Stern has commented that a Democratic president may hamper change in the labor movement. Stern would like to see a complete overhaul of the AFL-CIO and more emphasis on organizing new members.
