Labor leaders argue proposal to increase NLRB budget does not go far enough to support the chronically underfunded agency
A recent Congressional proposal has been made to increase the National Labor Relations Board's budget by 9% in 2023, which would be the first budget increase in years. However, at a time where organizing is on the rise, many labor leaders argue that the budget is still not large enough to adequately support the historically underfunded and understaffed NLRB. Furthermore, the proposed budget increase is less than the amount proposed by President Biden as well as the amount proposed by the Senate and House budget panels. As a result, there have been debates surrounding the interests and representation of labor versus business in Congress.
