Labor Organizers Seek Unusual Ally in Fast-Food Franchisees
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which was been the main organizer of the fast-food campaign fight for $15, has now turned its attention to organizing workers employed by franchises. Within the U.S., 90% of the McDolands stores are franchises. Organizing employees of franchises is seen as a challenge for the SEIU, because most franchises are operated by small-business owners who do not support unions.
