Labor proposal passes Senate, heads for Malloy's signature
A Connecticut law that would give collective bargaining rights to some home care workers and daycare providers has passed the state Senate, and will go to the governor for his signature. The governor had signed executive orders allowing them to form unions and engage in nonbinding negotiations, but the new law will give them full collective bargaining rights with the state. Advocates say that collective bargaining rights will allow workers to improve their working conditions and provide better care, but opponents worry about it affecting quality of care. The governor is expected to sign the bill into law next week.
