Labor Secretary’s Open-Door Policy Put to Test
After Labor Secretary Acosta’s recent instatement to the department, his office has begun to compile a labor agenda for the Trump administration, although his delayed confirmation has contributed to the pressure to work quickly. The process of determining the DOL’s agenda involves meeting with trade groups, members of congress, and advocates for both management and labor. Business groups are looking to reverse the newly broadened interpretation of joint employment and examine the DOL’s overtime and tip-pool rules, while those on the worker side are prioritizing maintaining the fiduciary rule.
