Labor shortages in the aircraft manufacturing industry slowing the production of planes
Labor shortages in the aircraft manufacturing industry have persisted from the large layoffs during the pandemic when airlines shut down, and this issue is now expected to harm plane production in 2023. Aerospace plants in the US and Canada desperately need to fill jobs, however this process has been delayed by the time it takes to train new employees in this highly intensive field. Some companies like Mitchell Aerospace have encouraged their existing workers to take overtime and raised wages in an attempt to solve the labor shortage issue. There have also been considerations to invest in new technology and automate some of the processes to mitigate the impact of a labor shortage.
