Labour Court moves to avert strike action at three airports
The Irish Labour Court is scrambling to intervene in an effort to stop a looming 24 hour strike next week by air traffic controllers that would ground up to 70,000 passengers at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports. Prompted by the Labour Court, controllers and the Irish Aviation Authority have agreed to sit down for talks early next week, with the Court hoping the union will stand down its strike notice while talks are in progress. Air traffic controllers are rumored to be demanding a 1,200 Euro per day increase in overtime pay, a demand the IAA has termed as "scandalous".
