Laid-off Tucson workers win injunction in union fight
A group of workers laid-off after attempting to organize have received a temporary injunction from a U.S. District Court Judge ordering them to be reinstated. The 28 employees were employed by Greenbriar and were being organized by the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers, who brought the suit on the employees? behalf. The union claims that the company used promises of benefits to employees who opposed the union, surveillance in the workplace, interrogation, solicitation of complaints against employees who supported the union, and retaliation against employees supporting the union. The company maintains that the lay-offs and facility closure were decisions made solely on the basis of economic value.
