Large Globe union, management suspend negotiations
The Boston Globe reached agreements with two of its unions early this morning after all-night negotiations. The mailers union agreed to $5 million in concessions and delivery drivers to $2.5 million. Owner of the Globe, the New York Times Co., is seeking $20 million in total cuts to avoid closing the paper. Meanwhile, management has yet to negotiate a deal with the paper's largest union, the Newspaper Guild. The two sides stopped talks around 8am this morning, but are expected to continue within the next day.
