Lawsuit Accuses Amazon of 'Systemic' Racism in Corporate Offices
Charlotte Newman, a manager at Amazon, has filed a discrimination lawsuit against the company. The lawsuit alleges that Amazon hires Black people for lower positions and promotes them more slowly than white workers. Additionally, the lawsuit asserts that Newman, herself, was subjected to harassment and filed the lawsuit to call out the systemic racism present at Amazon. Newman is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. The lawsuit comes as Amazon is in the midst of battling a unionization effort in Alabama.
