Asheville, North Carolina is the home of Moog Music, a renowned musical instrument company that manufactures synthesizers. Various Moog Music instruments have been played by famous musicians, such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. The company was recently acquired by InMusic, an international company. Shortly after the acquisition, Moog Music announced job cuts that will affect several manufacturing workers in Asheville. Production of Moog Music synthesizers will be outsourced, with a majority of future production occurring in Taiwan. Previous to InMusic’s acquisition of Moor Music, the company was largely employee-owned, which was an aspect of the company that Bob Moog, company founder, emphasized. His vision for the company was for it to be as equal and fair as possible for employees.
