Recently, Walmart announced its plans to lay off thousands of warehouse workers across the US as it prepares for a tough financial year. However, simultaneously, Walmart also plans to raise the minimum wage for the company as it tries to retain workers amidst a tight labor market in lower-wage industries. The layoffs at Walmart are much smaller in scale compared to the cuts other online retailers like Amazon have been making.
