Training documents meant for Target store managers were leaked anonymously to Target Workers Unite, sparking controversy about the topic of unions. At the end of January, Target emailed their store managers new training guidelines on labor relations which prompted managers to look for signs of unionization and quell the efforts. The training says, “early detection and response to the signs of organizing is vital in maintaining a union-free environment.” One Target employee said the labor relations training undermined the company’s claim of being “pro team member.”
