Leaving the Assembly to Focus on Labor Full Time
Brian M. McLaughlin, a seven-term Democratic assemblyman from Queens, said yesterday that he would not seek another term, citing a desire to concentrate on his work as president of the powerful New York City Central Labor Council. Among his priorities, he said, are helping unionize thousands of security guards and day care workers in New York and pushing to change the state's Taylor Law, which bans strikes by government employees.
