Legoland California pushing anti-union agenda after engineers filed for union representation
Ride technician engineers at Legoland California, a well-known Lego block theme park, claim that the company is participating in unfair labor practices, and has expressed opposition to unionization efforts. The workers also stated that company management hired union avoidance consultants. The consultants held one-on-one meetings with workers as well as group meetings in attempts to convince them to not participate in union organization efforts. Workers applied for union representation with the National Labor Relations Board in September and were seeking representation from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Company management allegedly gave out raises and promotions based solely on favoritism and nepotism. Various employees also stated that out of all the amusement parks in California, such as Disneyland, SeaWorld, Six Flags, and Universal, ride technician engineers at Legoland are paid the least. Workers are continuing to speak out and file complaints against the company’s anti-union efforts.
