Levi's Closes Last Two U.S. Sewing Plants
Levi Strauss & Co closed its last two U.S. sewing plants Thursday, causing about 800 workers to lose their jobs. The company has been shifting production overseas for years due to financial troubles. A spokesman for the company said that Levi tried very hard to keep manufacturing in the United States but in the end the move was necessary. Levi's will continue to base some operations in the United States including its design and sales staffs and some distribution centers.
