Li Ka-Shing's Striking Port Workers Lose Jobs as Protest Widens
Some of the Hong Kong port workers who have been on strike for three weeks were told that they will lose their jobs. The contractor that employs them says that it cannot meet their wage demands, and is not able to continue operating because 75% of their employees are on strike. The workers, who are asking for higher wages and better working conditions, rejected a 7% wage increase yesterday.
