Local labor requirement dismissed for project in Syracuse
A company constructing a multi-million-dollar warehouse in Syracuse petitioned for a waiver which would allow the firm to hire a larger percentage of non-local contractors. Such a waiver was granted by the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency on Tuesday, allowing the firm to expand its search for labor. The firm was initially required to ensure that 70% of contractors were local. However, the firm proved to the board that meeting this requirement was not feasible, after failing to hire enough local contractors.
