Locked-out union workers protest at Convention Center
Only 40 or 50 protestors showed up outside of the Pennsylvania Convention Center as of this morning after being locked-out of their work. Four other unions reached an agreement over work rules with the Convention Center management, the Teamsters were unable to reach an accord. The number of police present was far greater than the number of protestors. Police stated that the demonstration was peaceful and ?professional?. Although, the Carpenters Union and the Teamsters Union eventually accepted the work rules changes, the management of the Convention Center said that the issue had long past and that it would not be revisited for the current work. The rules in question are one instituting a standardized drug-testing program and another that allows convention center presenters to set-up their own booths instead of having union workers perform the task.
