Lockheed workers to vote Thursday on new contract
Workers at a Texas Lockheed Martin plant will vote on a new contract on Thursday. The workers have been on strike for more than two months. The four-year agreement would increase wages by 2.5-3% each year, includes adjustments for inflation, and would preserve the pension plans for current employees while moving future workers to a 401(k) style plan. The union says that it is recommending workers accept the offer, which the company and a federal mediator says is the best they can do. Lockheed, which produces jets for the military, has been using temporary workers to run the plant during the strike.
