Lockout Shuts Down Finnish Paper Industry
The Finnish paper industry has been shut down due to an employer lockout. The four-week lockout began Wednesday after talks between employers and unions broke down. Most mills across the country have been closed until the dispute is resolved. Global paper prices could be raised as a consequence of the lockout, as some of the world's largest paper firms operate in Finland. Swedish workers have begun an overtime ban in support of the strike, and other European workers are expected to do the same.
