London North East Railway and Aslef resolve dispute, train drivers will no longer strike
London North East Railway train drivers have called off strike action that was set to begin this weekend. Train drivers were planning to go on strike every weekend in September, October, and early November if a dispute between the railway and the worker’s union was not resolved. The London North East Railway’s main service is from London to Edinburgh, and the railway also has train services between London and Newcastle, York, and Durham. The workers are represented by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (Aslef) union, and the union was able to reach an agreement with the British government regarding the railway allegedly breaking previous agreements. The union claimed that the railway was not properly paying train drivers overtime, and having driver managers operating trains. The two parties have discussed and resolved the issues, and workers will take strike action.
