London Tube strike sparks travel chaos
Members of the Transport and Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) and the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) held a 24-hour walkout that crippled the London Tube on Monday. The unions are fighting the London Underground's decision to pave the way for full automation by laying off employees and closing ticket offices across London. Only 67% of commuter services were fully staffed yesterday, causing chaos for many commuters. The trade unions have been clashing with the London Underground for months, but are hoping to negotiate with the transit authority sometime this week. Services resumed normal service at 6 p.m. on Monday.
