Los Angeles Gives Preliminary Approval to $15 Minimum Wage
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council voted that businesses with more than 25 employees must have base wages of $15 an hour by the year 2020. This is a steep increase from the current minimum wage of $9 an hour. This plan will increase the pay of approximately 800,000 employees in the Los Angeles area. The council voted 14-1 in favor of this plan.
