Lucent Technologies and Unions Reach Deal
Lucent Technologies Inc. and two labor unions that cover about 3,250 of their employees nationwide, have reached a tentative deal. Negotiations were hosted by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, an independent U.S. government agency whose mission is to preserve and promote labor-management peace and cooperation. Issues discussed included whether retirees should contribute to the cost of their health insurance.
