Lufthansa cancels about 1,700 flights amid strike
German ground workers for Lufthansa airline walked out on Monday for a a one-day strike. The strike, which caused the airline to cancel most of the 1,700 flights planned for the day, was over wages and other work provisions. The airline rejected the union proposal for a 5.2% wage increase last week. Lufthansa said that the strike went too far, and that the union is worried about its own security.
