Lufthansa strike causes few problems on first day
Flights were barely disrupted as Lufthansa cabin crew and ground staff began a strike today over pay. However, union officials noted that the strike would increase in impact as the days continued. Television pictures demonstrated that planes were taking off as usual and departure boards showed only short delays. Lufthansa said it had limited the effect of the walkouts with measures like reassigning nonstriking staff to other tasks.
