Lula Plans Sweeping Overhaul of Unions
Proposed changes include eliminating a tax that private sector employees are legally obliged to pay to unions and legislation that has restricted employee choice. Some of Brazil?s labor law was established in the 1940s and copied from Italy's Mussolini regime. Reactions from Brazil's unions are divided.
