Lyft to remove certain offerings and layoff employees in effort to reduce costs
Lyft will no longer be offering stand-alone rentable bikes and scooters in certain US cities. Standalone rentable bikes and scooters are vehicles that do not require users to pick up and return the vehicles to docking stations. Lyft announced that the company will be conducting layoffs due to this change, and will reduce the workforce by one percent. The company will also be implementing other measures, such as making operations more efficient and improving sales strategies in an effort to reduce costs and increase profit margins. Lyft estimates that it will earn an additional $20 million in income due to the changes.
