Maine manufacturer accused of firing workers trying to unionize
State union groups have charged ALCOM, a trailer manufacturing company, with allegations of firing employees for union activity. The five terminated employees were part of a group that began unionization efforts in early May. ALCOM?s President denied the accusations and affirmed his support for the right of workers to organize. Voices from AFL-CIO have labeled the firings as a breach of the National Labor Relations Act. The terminated employees are likely to seek reinstatement by bringing their case before the National Labor Relations Board.
