Male athletes call for increased wages for female players
Athletes on the U.S. men's team have called for the U.S. Soccer Federation to triple the wages of their female counterparts. Last year female athletes sued the Federation for wage discrimination- a trial is scheduled to take place in May. Male athletes are backing female players, stating that their wages should be tripled, at the very least. The United States National Soccer Team Players Association has stated that the Federation should compensate players according to the revenue that they generate. Additionally, the union has called on soccer fans to engage with this issue in order to encourage the Federation to increase female athletes' wages.
