Many Low-Income Workers Say ‘No’ to Health Insurance
Ten months ago, the Affordable Care Act's mandate was passed requiring employers with more than 50 full-time workers to provide health insurance. Businesses have found that even though they now offer health insurance, almost none of their employees have signed up for the program. At this point, only companies with more than 100 employees must abide by the law, but next year all employers with more than 50 employees will need to provide health insurance. Most employees are unable or unwilling to pay the annual premium required by insurance companies.
