Many of Forbes' best companies operate in Chicago area
Forbes has released its annual Fortune magazine list of 100 Best Companies to Work For, and Chicago, which houses major operations for 11 of the 100 companies named, is proud to say their city is an attractive workplace. Chicago companies who made the list include Accenture (at number 84), Deloitte (77th), and Whole Foods Market, which came in at a respectable number 18. Together, these three companies employ over 9,000 people in the Chicago area. All three companies over shorter work weeks or telecommunications options, and have strong employee trust. Whole Foods and Accenture are rapidly expanding operations, embracing 'the technology age' and employing more people. In a time of big bonuses, the salary limit for top executives at Whole Foods also seems positive. CEOs, etc. can earn no more than 19 times the average hourly wage, which stands currently at $16.98. This year's number one company was software magnate SAS, which has made the list all 13 years it has existed.
