Marco Rubio’s Plan for Paid Leave Does Not Require Paid Leave
On Friday, Senator Marco Rubio outlined his plan on how to provide more paid leave to workers. As opposed to Democratic candidates who suggest that the government require and operate the program, Senator Rubio argues that big corporations should receive tax incentives. The United States is currently the only country that does not have a government run paid leave program. Senator Rubio is the first Republican candidate to suggest more paid leave for employees. Critics of his plan argue that it will not incentive employers to implement a paid leave policy if one does not already exist.
