Mass General Brigham offers voluntary employee separations, will layoff workers if not enough workers choose the buyout option
Mass General Brigham announced its intention to reduce the size of the technology and digital division, and the hospital is offering employee buyouts and voluntary employee separations. If not enough employees take the buyout offers, Mass General Brigham will lay off employees. The deadline for workers to opt for the buyout offer is November 15th, and the hospital will announce job cuts on December 4th if they occur. The offer will provide employees with two weeks of severance pay for each year of employment. Mass General Brigham cited financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shifting patient demands as the main reasons for layoffs. The hospital will carefully review employee applications for voluntary employee separations, and they have the right to reject an employee's application based on a worker's skills and duration at the hospital. If Mass General Brigham rejects a worker’s voluntary separation, the worker will be protected from the potential layoffs that may occur.
