Mayor urges end to 'pointless' industrial action
The Mayor of London praised transportation workers in a holiday statement, but also called for them to call off their Boxing Day strike. The mayor said that the strike was unnecessary, and they should concentrate on working together. The strike is by London Underground drivers, who want extra pay for working on Boxing Day, a national holiday. The London Underground is asking for an injunction to prevent the strike, saying that they have a pay agreement which includes other things in return for drivers working on Boxing Day and other bank holidays.
