McCormick Place union to stick with state's labor revisions
The Machinery Movers, Riggers & Machinery Erectors Local 136 has signed a new, three-year contract that would allow the 328 riggers represented by the union to continue their work at Chicago's McCormick Place convention center. The contract includes pay raises for the workers, but also requires them to abide by labor rules instituted by the state of Illinois last year, despite those rules being successfully challenged in federal court by two other unions who work at McCormick place. A fourth union's contract is also under negotiation this summer.
