Median CEO pay crosses $10 million in 2013
The median pay for American CEO?s is now above $10 million, up from $9.6 million in 2012. For the fourth straight year in a row CEO pay has risen according to an Associated Press/Equilar. The average CEO now makes about 257 times the average worker?s salary. Over the course of the past four years, the worst of the Great Recession, CEO pay has risen about 50%, although the largest amount of growth has been seen in the equity portion of pay which the recovery has aided. This last year also saw several CEO?s receive a one-time bonus of tens of millions of dollars in exchange for renegotiating the CEO?s employment contract, under pressure from shareholders.
