Mediator hosts NHL sides separately
With the clock ticking towards the National Hockey League's "point of no return" for saving the hockey season, negotiators from the league and the player's union have not yet returned to the bargaining table after talks broke down late Wednesday night. Although each side was to meet individually with a federal mediator today, it is not expected that the union and the league will meet until Monday for a scheduled status conference. the NHL has imposed a deadline of January 11 for the lockout to end, after which the hockey season will be cancelled for the second time in eight years.
