Meta announces layoffs that will affect Facebook Messenger employees
Meta has announced another round of layoffs this week, and the cuts were targeted at employees in the Facebook Messenger division. The division reorganized and made various changes, and this resulted in around fifty employees being let go. Numerous technical program managers were laid off, and their responsibilities were absorbed by product managers. The social media platform Instagram which is owned by Meta made similar changes earlier this year. Meta has been focused on increasing efficiency within the company in recent years, and in 2023, over twenty thousand employees were laid off to cut costs and slim down Meta’s workforce.
