Meta will increase hiring efforts next year, after laying off thousands of workers this past year
Over the past year, Meta has undergone several rounds of layoffs that have cut positions in every division. Around 20,00 employees have been affected by the layoffs, but Meta has announced that there will be no more job cuts, and the company will be increasing its hiring efforts next year. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that this year’s layoffs improved company efficiency and reduced costs, and the new hiring efforts will focus on growing critical developing areas of the company. This includes artificial intelligence and the newly launched conversational chatbots, new language models, and augmented and virtual reality products and services. Meta will also focus on continuing to grow Threads, a new text-based social media platform similar to the social media Twitter.
