Mexico Sets Payment for Ex - Guest Workers
The Mexican government has announced that guest workers who labored in the United States between 1942 and 1964 will get a one-time payment of about $3,500. The workers, known as "baceros," had been hoping for more compensation than the government has chosen to give, and activists for the baceros have described the payment as "insulting." However, the Mexican government is holding firm at $3,500 and does not seem willing to offer more.
