Miami airport workers went on Super Bowl hunger strike
Workers employed by Sky Chefs took advantage of the extra attention placed on their airport by engaging in a six-day hunger strike during the Super Bowl. The majority of airport employees receive a living-wage due to a mandate that was expanded in 2018. Sky Chefs employees are the exception as the firm is only required to pay employees the state minimum wage. In an attempt to increase their wages, Sky Chef workers went on strike to protest their inadequate wages.
