Micro-Unions Are Target of Reintroduced GOP Legislation
On Thursday, Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson reintroduced the Representation Fairness Restoration Act to reverse the NLRB’s Specialty Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center of Mobile decision. The 2011 ruling allowed for employees to form micro-unions: unions that organize only a percentage of a company’s employees. Congressional Republicans claim that the Obama administration decision hurts businesses’ ability to function and favors labor unions. While Isakson’s Act has already received support from 10 Republicans, it will have to gain support from across the aisle in order to avoid a filibuster.
