Migrant workers dying after being treated as ?modern slaves? by Qatar World Cup organizers, report claims
Journalists report that at least 44 Nepalese migrant workers have died this summer in Qatar due to abysmal work conditions and treatment while constructing the 2022 World Cup stadium. Reports say that all of the migrant workers who have died were from Nepal and that in many cases workers were even denied access to water. The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee states that they are aware of the reports and that the government has opened an investigation. Similar issues have been raised in the past by the Anti-Slavery International organization and the International Trade Union Confederation for different projects, but the employment system in the country has remained very much the same.
