Military civilian medical workers quit after furloughs
More than 3,000 military medical personnel quit their jobs this year as a result sequestration imposed furloughs. Army surgeon general Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho says that uncertainty over how long the furloughs would last lead many workers to seek alternate employment. Many of the workers who quit went to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs, as its budget was not affected by the sequester. Because of inaction from Congress thus far on the issue, automatic spending cuts could continue into next year.
