Minimum wage hikes in four states show path for labor under Trump
On Tuesday, voters agreed to raise the minimum wage to $12 in Arizona, Colorado, and Maine, and $13.50 in Washington state, all by 2020. Jonathan Schleifer, the executive director of the Fairness Project stated that these ballot initiatives reflect “the only way forward” in minimum wage policies. The Fairness Project aims to raise the minimum wage in states across the country. Stephen Anderson, a restaurant analyst, believes that as the coming legislation is expected to be pro-business, it will mitigate the costs of raised wages. Results in red, blue, and purple states showed that voters support the raising of the minimum wage.
