MLS, union extend labor negotiations again
The Major League Soccer organization and players' union agreed yesterday to extend contract negotiations once again, in part because of the snowstorm that ravaged DC this past week. Negotiations scheduled to take place in Washington were forced to cancel due to the weather. This is the second time negotiations between the two sides have been extended since the previous five-year agreement expired at the end of January. The new deadline is February 25th - if a deal is not reached the organization could force a lockout or a strike that could induce a significant portion of overseas players to return to their native leagues, or to the European clubs.
